What is Liberale Mutualiteit - Mutualité Libérale (LM-ML)?
Liberale Mutualiteit - Mutualité Libérale (LM-ML) is a health insurance fund whose core mission is to arrange statutory reimbursement for medical care for its members. Like every Belgian health insurance fund, LM-ML offers additional benefits to its members. Besides member benefits, as an LM-ML member, you can also take out hospitalisation insurance with the Liberale Mutualiteit - Mutualité Libérale.
Liberale Mutualiteit - Mutualité Libérale (LM-ML) health insurance fund
Liberale Mutualiteit - Mutualité Libérale (LM-ML) is a Belgian health insurance fund within the liberal federal government, originating in the late 19th century from liberal workers' and aid associations that offered mutual protection. LM-ML was officially recognized within the Belgian social security system after the introduction of compulsory health insurance.
Today, LM-ML legally provides reimbursements and benefits under the mandatory insurance scheme, and the health insurance fund offers additional member benefits as well as optional insurance policies such as hospitalization coverage. Nationally, LM-ML has just over half a million members, primarily in Flanders.
The health insurance fund is made up of a number of regional instances: Liberale Mutualiteit Oost-Vlaanderen, Liberale Mutualiteit Plus en Liberale mutualiteit MUTPLUS.be, Mutualité Libérale Hainaut-Namur en Mutualité Libérale Liège – Luxembourg. These are coordinated by a national umbrella organization, LM-ML. The national umbrella organization has just over half a million members.
LM-ML focuses on freedom of choice, personal responsibility, and innovation, and collaborates with liberal healthcare and welfare organizations within the liberal network.
Member Benefits
In addition to organizing reimbursements and benefits for disability or pregnancy within the legal framework of mandatory health insurance, LM-ML also offers a wide range of additional benefits and premiums for LM-ML members. These include additional member benefits such as a breastfeeding premium, a sports incentive, compensation for psychological counseling, and more.
Insurances
LM-ML also offers its members optional insurance policies. These include LMcare+ and LMcomfort+ hospitalisation insurances, as well as Denta Plus dental insurance and the LMcontinuity+ waiting policy, allowing members to switch from group to individual hospitalization insurance without interruption.

LM-ML provides an online overview for its members via ‘My LM-ML’. My LM-ML functionality includes:

- Your file with the total annual reimbursements and a deductible
- Self-service application for the European Health Insurance Card, envelopes, stickers,...
- Communication with the health insurance fund regarding benefits
- Adjusting personal data and preferences
- Overview of automatically filled in documents
