What is the Christelijke Mutualiteit (CM)?
CM health insurance fund
Christelijke Mutualiteit (CM) is one of the largest health insurance funds in Belgium, founded in the late 19th century through Christian-inspired solidarity initiatives. CM has grown into a national organization with the goal of making affordable healthcare and social protection accessible to everyone.
Today, CM, together with Mutualité Chrétienne (MC), supports 4.6 million members nationwide with statutory reimbursement of medical expenses and applications for benefits such as disability and maternity leave. In Flanders, CM has approximately 3.5 million members, while its French-speaking counterpart, the Mutualité Chrétienne (MC), currently has just over 1.1 million members.
Member Benefits
In addition to organising statutory health insurance, CM offers a wide range of additional member benefits, with the focus today on benefits for young parents (CM growth budget), mental health and reimbursements for dental care (orthodontics).
Insurance
CM also offers its members optional hospitalisation insurance plans: CM-Hospitaalplan and CM-Hospitaalplan Plus, which provide financial protection against medical expenses in the event of a hospital stay. CM's offering also includes the CM-MediKo Plan, a supplementary insurance plan for care outside the hospital, to mitigate the costs of medical services and equipment.
CM focuses on proximity through local offices, online tools and volunteers. The organization is built on its values of trust, respect, solidarity, sustainability, and courage, and prioritizes the health of everyone, regardless of background or income.
