What is Solidaris?

Solidaris Flanders is a health insurance fund whose core mission is to organize statutory RIZIV reimbursements for its members. Solidaris also offers its members a health benefits package, and you can also take out hospitalization insurance.

Health insurance fund

Solidaris has been the new name of the merged Bond Moyson and De Voorzorg since July 2022. It is the second largest health insurance fund in Belgium, with 3.3 million members, and it is traditionally associated with the socialist political movement.

Flanders

Solidaris Flanders is active in four provinces: West Flanders, East Flanders, Antwerp, and Limburg. Solidaris Brabant, which operates in Flemish Brabant and Brussels, is not included.

Member benefits

In addition to the statutory reimbursements from National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance called RIZIV, Solidaris members are also entitled to a package of additional membership benefits, such as reimbursements for glasses, earplugs, psychological support, and more.

These are additional financial benefits that Solidaris offers to all members. The member benefits vary slightly across the four regions of Solidaris Flanders, but a standardisation process has been underway for several years to harmonize them.

Insurance

In addition to the statutory offer and the member benefits, Solidaris also offers additional hospitalisation insurance, dental insurance and additional cover for medical expenses.

Solidaris also offers many additional services such as home nursing, household help, handyman services, etc. There are also care shops that are operated directly or through partners.
