We attach great importance to the protection of your personal data. This privacy statement explains how we collect, process, share and protect your personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and other applicable Belgian legislation.
1. Who is responsible for the processing? (Data Controller)
We act as data controller for the personal data you provide us via the website, forms or contact. For questions about this statement or your rights: contact us via the contact form or by post to the above address. We have not appointed a mandatory Data Protection Officer (DPO), as this is not legally required for our activities.
2. What personal data do we process?
Depending on how you use the site, we may process the following categories:
- Identification and contact data: name, first name, email address, phone number, date of birth/age, postcode/municipality.
- Family related data (if relevant for a quote): e.g. family composition, existing health insurance fund, existing hospitalisation insurance (basic information, no detailed medical history), relevant domains for health insurance fund benefits.
- Technical data: IP address, browser data, date/time of visit, pages visited (via cookies – see our cookie policy).
- Comparison data: data relating to your current provider, personal product preferences, or other simulation/calculator data you enter when using our online calculators, simulators or comparison tools, or to generate a lead for our partners.
- Phone calls you make with our customer service, to ensure the quality of our service and as possible evidence of a commercial transaction.
- Other data you provide yourself, such as when you contact us (e.g. by phone, our chatbox or social media) or when you post a comment on an article.
We do not process special categories of personal data (such as detailed medical records) unless you explicitly share them – and only with your consent.
3. For what purposes do we process your personal data? (Purposes)
We process your data only for the following purposes:
- Offering and improving our comparison and lead generation services (Art. 6.1.f GDPR – legitimate interest).
- Forwarding your lead to our partners, selected insurers/health insurance funds (Art. 6.1.a GDPR – consent).
- Answering your questions/contact requests (Art. 6.1.b/f GDPR).
- Analytical purposes (aggregated/anonymous, via Google Analytics with IP anonymisation – see cookie policy).
- Legal obligations (e.g. invoicing, accounting – Art. 6.1.c GDPR).
- Fraud prevention and site security (legitimate interest).
- Reporting of results with partners
- Marketing purposes (such as sending newsletters, personalised or non-personalised promotions, offers from us or advertising about us). You can always object free of charge.
- Transactional and service-related communication: after submitting a lead, we may send one or more follow-up emails with transactional or informational content, such as confirmation of your request and a summary of the data provided, a status update on the forwarding to the insurer/health insurance fund, a practical reminder or additional information needed to complete your request (e.g. “Your quote has been requested – check your inbox at the insurer”) or additional information related to the lead or our services (complementary or otherwise).
We do not process your data for automated decision-making with legal consequences (no profiling for insurance admission). Your data is only passed on to the providers you select for your contact request. These third parties may process your data for their own purposes, including marketing (consult their privacy statements).
4. Legal basis (bases) for processing
- Consent (Art. 6.1.a): For forwarding your lead to insurers/health insurance funds (explicitly via the form – checkbox not pre-ticked), marketing purposes.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f): For site management, analytics (limited), security, and transactional/service-related follow-up communication after a lead – we balance this against your rights (you can object).
- Legal obligation (Art. 6.1.c): E.g. accounting retention obligation, reporting of results with partners.
For sensitive data (health-related): only with explicit consent (Art. 9.2.a GDPR).
5. With whom do we share your personal data?
- Partners: the data contained in your quote request or contact request and your comparison data are forwarded to the partners. They act as separate data controllers. These requests are only sent after your explicit approval.
- Technical partners: hosting provider, analytics tool (Google – with DPA and IP anonymisation), email provider (EU-based).
- Other: only in case of legal obligation (e.g. court order) or merger/acquisition.
We do not sell your data to third parties for marketing.
6. Transfer outside the EEA
Some tools (e.g. Google Analytics) may transfer data to the US. We use appropriate safeguards:
- EU-US Data Privacy Framework (where applicable).
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with the processor.
- IP anonymisation where possible.
7. How long do we retain your data?
- Lead data: maximum 120 months after submission (or until withdrawal of consent), unless longer required for a dispute.
- Communications with our customer service: maximum 36 months.
- Technical logs: maximum 14 months (Google Analytics default).
- Phone call recordings: maximum 12 months
Upon expiry, your data will be deleted or anonymised.
8. Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, data portability.
- Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21.1 GDPR).
- Specific right to object to direct marketing (Art. 21.3 GDPR)

9. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures (e.g. encryption, access control, regular scans) to protect your data.
