Vlaams Neutraal Ziekenfonds (VNZ) released its supplementary benefits and reimbursements for 2027. These benefits are available to VNZ members and are provided in addition to the statutory reimbursements covered by Belgium’s National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (RIZIV/INAMI). These additional benefits vary from one health insurance fund to another and are worth comparing. The VNZ membership fee for 2027 has also been announced.
Vlaams Neutraal Ziekenfonds (VNZ) has announced its rates and conditions for 2027. The health insurance fund is increasing reimbursements for psychological care and introducing several new benefits. The VNZ membership fee for 2027 has also been confirmed.
In 2027, VNZ is placing greater emphasis on mental health. The reimbursement for consultations with a psychologist will increase to €20 per session, for up to 20 sessions per year. This means members will be able to receive a maximum reimbursement of €400 per year from 2027 onwards. In 2026, the maximum was €150 for adults and €300 for young people.
Another priority for VNZ in 2027 seems to be more support for women during pregnancy and after childbirth.
VNZ is introducing a breastfeeding allowance of €100. This benefit is intended for mothers who breastfeed and will be paid in two instalments: the first €50 when breastfeeding begins and the remaining €50 after three months of breastfeeding.
Another new VNZ benefit is the reimbursement of folic acid for pregnant women. From 2027, they will be entitled to a reimbursement of up to €30 per year.
The reimbursement for postnatal home care remains €5 per hour, but the period during which parents can use this benefit will be extended from 90 to 180 days after childbirth. The maximum remains 60 hours per baby.
From 2027, VNZ will completely discontinue reimbursements for acupuncture, homeopathy, anthroposophic medicine and hippotherapy.

The VNZ membership fee for 2027 remains unchanged at €120 per year, or €10 per month.
