Solidaris increases several reimbursements but drops homeopathy

As of 1 July 2026, Solidaris Vlaanderen is introducing several changes to its supplementary benefits and reimbursements. A number of popular reimbursements are increased and new benefits are introduced. At the same time, reimbursements for homeopathy, acupuncture and hypnotherapy will be discontinued.

Higher reimbursements for families

One of the most notable improvements is the reimbursement for sports club memberships and youth organisations. Members will now receive €35 instead of €10.

The birth benefit has also been significantly increased. For example, if both parents are members of Solidaris, the cash benefit increases from €300 to €500.

Reimbursement for psychological counselling is also being expanded from a maximum of 12 sessions to 20 sessions per year. Adults continue to receive €10 per session (€15 for those entitled to increased reimbursement), while children receive €20 per session (€30 with increased reimbursement).

New benefits

Solidaris is also introducing several new reimbursements:

• up to €30 per year for folic acid during pregnancy or when trying to conceive;
• a new reimbursement for consultations with a menopause counsellor;
• new reimbursements for children with autism, including occupational therapy and IQ assessments.

No more reimbursement for homeopathy

From 1 July, reimbursements for homeopathy, acupuncture and hypnotherapy will no longer be included in Solidaris’ supplementary insurance benefits. However, reimbursement for osteopathy and chiropractic care remains available, up to €50 per year.

According to Solidaris, this decision follows changes to the regulatory framework. This can be linked with the broader healthcare reform plans of Belgian Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke, who has repeatedly advocated directing reimbursements towards evidence-based healthcare. He has also criticised reimbursements for treatments with little or no scientific evidence, such as homeopathy.
